Crochet the Wattle Stitch for a Blanket

Amanda Jane

The Wattle Stitch is an easy-to-remember crochet stitch using single crochet, chain and double crochet stitches repeated across the row. It is perfect for a scarf, cowl, blanket, or warm sweater.

INSTRUCTIONS: Chain a multiple of 3

Row 1: In 3rd chain from the hook *single crochet, chain1, double crochet in the same stitch, skip 2* Repeat from *to * to last 3 stitches, single crochet in last stitch. Chain 2. Turn.

Row 2 (repeat row): Skip 2 stitches and start in first chain space. *single crochet, chain1, double crochet in the same stitch, skip 2* to end. Single crochet in turning chain. Chain 2. Turn.

Repeat Row 2 until the project is the length you need.

In the video I used Aran weight yarn and a size 5mm crochet hook. You could go up a size to give your work more drape.
